The Aire Valley run before the motorway run

It is a good half hour from a front door in Fell Lane or Guardhouse to the point where a van is actually making progress towards London or Glasgow. Add the loading, which in the central terraces is slow work, and a nationwide collection here wants an early morning. The streets climbing out of the Aire and Worth valleys are steep and in places setted, which is heavy going for a loaded long wheelbase van in wet weather, so dry and early beats late and hopeful.

Height is the other local catch. Low canal and railway bridges around Ingrow and Riddlesden have to be checked before committing a van with a tall load, and that gets sorted at the quoting stage rather than at the bridge.
