Housing here runs off Field Head Lane: Fieldhead Crescent, Rochester Road, Thornton Close, Charlotte Close and Branwell Avenue, with Lowood Lane leading towards Nova. Fieldhead Primary Academy is on the estate, and Oakwell Industrial Park and the NG Bailey site are close by.
The M62 passes little more than 100 metres from Field Head Lane here, and National Grid's overhead line crosses the area. According to Birstall's history, the course of Fieldhead Lane towards Drighlington is the Roman road of Tong Street. The old Adwalton Junction and the trackbed of the Gildersome branch lie about 450 metres away. If your house has a side gate, measure it: a wardrobe or a garden table can sometimes leave that way instead of through the hall.
How the van gets to Fieldhead
The B6125 is the road to know, running through Fieldhead as Field Head Lane. The A650 passes within about 450 metres; it comes from Tong Street on the Bradford side and bypasses Drighlington, which gives a route from Bradford that avoids the motorway. The M62 is the other way in, by junction 27.
