Copley Hill: what to know before moving day
The estate streets are Sandal Way, Birchwood Avenue, Sycamore Way, Elm Way, Beech Way, Larch Close and Elder Close, with the street called Copley Hill itself, Moat Hill and Castle Close alongside. Older terraces such as Coronation Terrace and Sunnymount Terrace are close by.
Just outside the housing is a cluster of furniture and bed shops, Newway, The Oak Pine Furniture, Bed Factory and SlideRobes among them, with Norquest Industrial Park and Carlton Manor nearby. If you buy a bed or a wardrobe there, the van can collect it and carry it in; existing beds and flat-pack furniture can be taken apart and rebuilt at the other end.
The Leeds New Line, the London and North Western Railway's second route between Huddersfield and Leeds, ran past Copley Hill. Birstall Town station, open from 1900 to 1953, is now an industrial estate, and the bridge that carried the line over Gelderd Road has been removed.
How the van gets to Copley Hill
Gelderd Road, the A62, runs about 200 metres away and heads north-east past junction 27 of the M62 towards Leeds, so the motorway is a short run. Leeds Road, the A643, is closer still and runs between Birstall and Morley. Upper Batley Lane starts nearby for anyone heading on to Batley.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 20 to 30 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
