Farsley: what to know before moving day
Town Street is the spine of the village, and it carries a B-road number (the B6157 at one end, the B6156 at the other), so expect through traffic past the shops while the van is loading. Sheephead Park, a memorial garden to the Rev. Samuel Marsden, who was born here, sits on Town Street. Sunny Bank Mills, still owned by the Gaunt family and used since 2022 for filming The Great British Sewing Bee, is the landmark most people give when directing a driver.
Housing changes as you move out from the centre. The older stone terraces and small cottages cluster around Town Street; west of it is a small council estate made up mainly of flats, the tallest block twelve storeys high; and the outskirts have many large detached houses. For a flat in the tall block, tell us the floor and whether there is a lift, and for a cottage, measure the front door before a big sofa goes on the list. Farsley Cricket Club plays on Red Lane, and the restored Rehoboth burial ground is just off Coal Hill Lane.
How the van gets to Farsley
From Bradford the natural line is the old Leeds and Bradford road: Bradford Road, the B6157, runs into Farsley and becomes Town Street. The Leeds outer ring road passes just east of the village as Ring Road Farsley (numbered A6120 on OpenStreetMap), and Calverley Lane and Old Road carry the B6156 north towards Calverley. Bagley Lane and Coal Hill Lane lead down towards Rodley and the valley.

Farsley: questions before you book
Was Farsley ever separate from Pudsey?
Yes. Farsley was a chapelry of Calverley parish, became an urban district in 1894, and was merged into the Municipal Borough of Pudsey on 1 April 1937. Since 1974 it has been part of Leeds, and its council services come from Leeds City Council.
