Cliviger: what to know before moving day
Walk Mill is on Burnley Road where it crosses the River Calder, with the Mount Zion chapel of 1853 and the engine house of the old Railway Pit beside it; closes such as Broad Ing Close and Barcroft Green lead off Park Road nearby, with Barcroft Hall, a late 16th-century house, to the north. Overtown is where Red Lees Road meets Mount Lane, by the playing fields and the Jerry Dawson Pavilion. Mereclough, where Red Lees Road meets the Long Causeway, has the Kettledrum Inn.
Holme Chapel, on Burnley Road at the south-eastern end, counts as the village centre: St John's church, St John the Divine primary school, the village hall and two pubs, the Ram Inn and the Queen Hotel. Although the whole parish is in the Borough of Burnley, it is split between three post towns, and a few farms carry Todmorden or Bacup postal addresses, so check the postcode rather than the parish name.
How the van gets to Cliviger
The A646 Burnley Road runs the length of the gorge between Burnley and Todmorden, so the van can come in from either end: out of Burnley past Walk Mill, or over from the Calder Valley through Todmorden to Holme Chapel. Park Road leaves the A646 at Walk Mill and Mount Lane links it to Red Lees Road for Overtown and Mereclough.

Because there isn't one. Cliviger is the parish, and its settlements are Walk Mill, Southward Bottom, Overtown, Mereclough and Holme Chapel. Give the driver the settlement, the street and the postcode, not just the word Cliviger.
Is Cliviger in Burnley or Todmorden?
Burnley. The parish has been in the Borough of Burnley since 1974 and is part of the Cliviger with Worsthorne ward, with its own parish council. Todmorden, over the county boundary in West Yorkshire, is at the far end of the gorge.
