Long Distance Removals in Burnley

Burnley is the furthest we go into Lancashire and the town where weather on the tops most often adds time to the day. Junctions 10 to 12 of the M65 are minutes from most addresses, though, and that motorway runs west towards the M6. It does not run east into Yorkshire.

The M65 goes west, so a Yorkshire move goes over the top

That distinction matters more than people expect when they book. A move to Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol or anywhere down the western side of the country is on motorway within minutes of the front door. A move to Leeds, Bradford or the North East has no motorway link from here at all: it is the M65 out to Colne, then the A6068 over exposed moor top towards Keighley, and that is most of an hour before the fast roads begin.

At the house end this is the flattest town in the group and the terraced grids look straightforward on a map. They are not. The rear cobbled back streets and ginnels are too narrow and too rough for a long wheelbase van, so almost every terrace job is worked off the front street, where cars are parked both sides all day. Once we are loaded, the load stays put: one van, one driver, straight through.

What Burnley long distance & nationwide usually involves

  • Terraced streets in Daneshouse, Stoneyholme and Burnley Wood are narrow with parking both sides, and a 3.4m-load van often cannot pass a parked car and a wheelie bin at the same time, so a bay suspension is worth arranging
  • The rear alleys behind the Victorian terraces look like access on a map and are not, so plan on a front-street load
  • The town-centre one-way system around Manchester Road, Grimshaw Street and Parker Lane has been through long-running roadworks for the Civic Quarter and Accessible Town Centre schemes, which keep changing which streets you can load on
  • Canal and rail bridges, including the Straight Mile embankment, limit which crossings a loaded van can use between north and south Burnley
  • Match days at Turf Moor close streets and fill the parking across Brunshaw and Burnley Wood, so we avoid booking a long-distance collection against one

Where in Burnley we work

  • Burnley College and the University of Lancashire campusend-of-year and start-of-course runs, usually a room's worth going a long way
  • Sandygate Hallpurpose-built halls where a June or September move is boxes, a duvet and a bike rather than a houseful
  • Daneshouse and Stoneyholmedense byelaw terracing with front-street loading only
  • Rose Grove and Burnley Woodlong straight terraced rows where the van stands as close as the parking allows
  • Ightenhill and Towneleylarger Victorian and Edwardian villas and semis, rarely a single Transit load
  • Network 65 and Burnley Bridge business parksequipment and stock relocations loaded off a yard and straight onto the M65

If your street isn't listed it's almost certainly still covered, Burnley and the surrounding BB10, BB11, BB12 postcodes are all inside our normal working area.

Common Burnley runs

  • Burnley → Manchester or the South Westonto the M65 at junction 10, 11 or 12 and west, the quickest start from this town
  • Burnley → Londonwest to the motorway network and then south, booked as a long single day from an early load
  • Burnley → Bradford or LeedsM65 to Colne then the A6068 over the tops, 27 miles priced as a cross-county run

What it costs

The distance, the size of the load and the moorland miles at whichever end they fall are what set the price, agreed as a fixed figure before the day. Burnley is a 27-mile run from Bradford, so it's booked as a planned slot and the driving time is built into one fixed price. You get that price before we set off, not after. Frequently asked questions: long distance & nationwide in Burnley

Why is a move from Burnley into Yorkshire quoted at more than the mileage suggests?

Because there is no motorway going that way. The M65 heads west, so to reach Bradford or Leeds you come off at Colne and cross the moor on the A6068. It is 27 road miles of genuinely slow going with a Pennine crossing in the middle. We price the real driving time and fix the figure before we start.

I'm a student moving home at the end of term. Is that too small a job?

Not at all. A room out of Sandygate Hall or a shared house near the college, a bed, boxes, a desk and a bike, is a normal long-distance job for us. You pay for the space and the time it takes rather than for a full van, and it goes on once and comes off at your parents' door.

Can you park outside a terrace in Daneshouse?

Sometimes, and sometimes it means a suspension. Those streets are parked both sides and the alleys behind are too rough and narrow to use, so the van works from the front. Tell us the street when you book and we will either arrange a bay with the council or plan the carry into the time.
