In a divided terrace, the upstairs flat shares a front door and a narrow staircase with a turn, and the kitchen furniture has to come down it. Beds and existing flat-pack are taken apart and rebuilt at the other end, which is often the only way through. Let the downstairs neighbour know the move is happening, because the hall will be busy for a while.

Blocks in and around the centre, and the odd canal-side conversion near the Weavers' Triangle, vary building to building. Some have lifts and a sensible entrance; others have a long corridor and an old stair. Send a photo of the entrance and ask your managing agent whether a lift can be booked and whether there are set move times. A parking space or bay near the door is worth asking about too.
