Clifton (Brighouse): what to know before moving day
Towngate has a pub at each end, the Black Horse Inn and the Armytage Arms. Well Lane starts opposite the Black Horse and becomes Doles Lane, a public right of way past fields that still show the strips of the old open-field system. Highley Hall, near the war memorial, was a farm until the 1990s and is a private house again. St John's Church of England Primary Academy started life in the 1870s as Clifton School.

How the van gets to Clifton (Brighouse)

Why does Clifton have no parish council?
Clifton was its own civil parish until 1937, when most of it, the village included, was added to the borough of Brighouse. That borough was abolished in 1974 and no parish replaced it, so Clifton is run directly by Calderdale Council.
