Moving in Bogthorn: what to know first
Keighley Road, the B6143, is the spine of Bogthorn: a 30 mph bus route between Keighley and Oakworth with stops along it. It is not a road to stand a long van on for an hour, so for a house facing it, tell us whether there is a drive or which side road is nearest. Valley View Close and Bronte Drive open straight off it, and Goose Cote Lane is the turning for the streets towards Damems.
Behind the main road the housing is estate houses, many with their own garages, on streets such as Hareton Way, Earnshaw Way, Isabella Close and Hunsden Way, and the Oakbank streets towards the school. Closes can be tight for a long van to turn in, so say if yours is a dead end and whether the drive is free on the day. Beckfoot Oakbank brings school traffic to Oakworth Road at either end of the school day.
Bogthorn: the local picture
The old hamlet is still an address, with houses numbered on Bogthorn itself, and a Wesleyan chapel went up at the corner of Goose Cote Lane in 1882. Around it are later estates: Valley View Close and Bronte Drive right on the main road, then Hareton Way, Earnshaw Way, Isabella Close and Hunsden Way, with Harewood Road, Moorlands Avenue and Greystones Drive further in.
Brown Springs Farm and Branshaw Golf Course mark the open side, and Beckfoot Oakbank, a secondary school with places for 1,800, is on Oakworth Road just over half a kilometre away. Keighley Road here is a 30 mph bus route with a stop at Valley View Close, a handy point to tell the driver.
How the van gets to Bogthorn
Keighley town centre comes first on the way from Bradford: the A650 up the valley, Dalton Lane, Cavendish Street and North Street, then out west on the B6143 Oakworth Road and the last 700 metres along Keighley Road. Bogthorn works out at roughly 25 to 40 minutes from Bradford on the estimate.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 25 to 40 minutes. That is an estimate, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Frequently asked questions: man with a van in Bogthorn
Which side of the Oakworth boundary is Bogthorn on?
The Keighley side. It sits between Exley Head and Oakworth and is counted as part of Keighley, in the Keighley West ward, while Cackleshaw, just past Goose Cote Lane, is already in the Worth Valley ward. Both are in Keighley civil parish, so Bradford Council handles bins and council tax either way.
Is Bogthorn a street or a place?
Both. Bogthorn is the old hamlet on Keighley Road, and some houses still have Bogthorn itself as their street address, while the estates built around it have their own street names. Give the full address and postcode so the driver knows which you mean.
Where can the van stop for a house on Keighley Road in Bogthorn?
On your drive if you have one, or in the nearest side road such as Valley View Close or Bronte Drive. Keighley Road is a 30 mph bus route, so the van keeps clear of the bus stops and does not block the road while loading.
