Berry Brow: what to know before moving day
Birch Road, Farehill Road, Wain Brow and Caldercliffe Road are the streets closest to the station. Waingate, School Lane, Deadmanstone, Chapel Close and Station Lane make up the rest of the village, and Parkgate, Woodhead Road and Dodds Royd are the local names for the A616. The Victorian infants' school is now Berry Brow Infant and Nursery Academy, and the village has a few shops, The Railway and Golden Fleece pubs and a Liberal Club. Deadmanstone, originally known as Dudmanstone, is the oldest part.
Two high-rise blocks were built in the valley bottom in the 1960s. After years of asbestos removal and refurbishment, Kirklees decided in 2026 to demolish them in stages, with completion expected by September 2026. The station has one platform, reached by a steep ramp from the main road.
How the van gets to Berry Brow
The A616 is the road through: from Huddersfield it leaves the ring road at Chapel Hill, runs as Lockwood Road and Woodhead Road, and reaches the crossroads where Armitage Road (B6110) goes one way and the turn for Berry Brow and its station goes the other. Newsome Road South links the village with Newsome.
