Armitage Bridge: what to know before moving day
The Brooke family mill, whose business is said to date from 1541, is now the Yorkshire Technology and Office Park, and OpenStreetMap shows its Main and Blue car parks for the Brookes Mill Workspace. St Paul's Church, built in 1848 with a donation from the Brooke family, was partly destroyed by fire in 1987 and rebuilt in 1990. Armitage Bridge House is Grade II listed, early 19th century, and a terrace of listed mill cottages stands on Dean Brook Road.
Armitage Road, the B6110, runs through the village, with Club Houses, Lake View, Royd Terrace, Bankfield Terrace and Armitage Fold beside it and Bank Foot Lane leading off. Dean Brook and the River Holme both run through, Old Spring Wood and Mag Wood are close, and the village has a pub, a cricket club and a banjo shop. The Meltham branch railway also passed through before it closed.
How the van gets to Armitage Bridge
Armitage Road (B6110) leaves the A616 Woodhead Road at a crossroads, as the road for Meltham, and runs down into the village; the B6110 also carries the names Carriage Drive and Stockwell Hill nearby. From Bradford the van comes by the M62 and through Huddersfield to the A616 at Chapel Hill.
