Moving in Bank Nook: what to know first
Bank Nook is a handful of cottages, and the van's whole approach is Green Lane, a lane off Marsden Lane that ends in a turning area just short of the row. That is where the van will stand, and it means the van can turn and leave nose first rather than reversing back down the lane. From there the cottages are a short carry on foot, so tell us which door you use and whether there are steps down to it.
Beyond the turning area the ways on are a short tarmac lane for access only, footpaths and farm tracks, none of them a road for a loaded van. The cottages are listed and old, with doorways under heavy stone lintels and stairs built for the 18th century, so measure the widest pieces before booking. On a wet day the slope from the lane to the door is slower going, and that time is part of the price agreed first.
Bank Nook: the local picture
Four entries on the listed register cover most of the row. No. 1, of the 18th century and altered in the 19th, is three storeys at one end and two at the other, with a lean-to on the west side and a blocked doorway under a large lintel. No. 5 has a five-light window below and six lights above, No. 6 keeps two doorways with big lintels, and Nos. 7 and 8, the oldest at mid 18th century, stand on a plinth. Next door, The Naze has single-storey extensions built back to earth.
In cottages of this age, measure doors, stairs and landings against anything large before the day. Further along are Booth Naze and the late 18th-century Green Lane Farmhouses, two houses and a barn in one listed range. The line of a Roman road runs about 120 metres away, and the Huddersfield railway line passes about 220 metres off, lower down the slope.
How the van gets to Bank Nook
Green Lane is the access, branching from Marsden Lane, while White Hill, Booth Bank and Shawfields Lane, the last only about 2 metres wide, lie a couple of hundred metres off. The likely route from Bradford comes off the M62 on to the A640 New Hey Road, then down through the lanes by Holme Lane and Marsden Lane to Green Lane, roughly 35 to 50 minutes.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 35 to 50 minutes. That is an estimate, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Frequently asked questions: man with a van in Bank Nook
Our cottage has doors at two levels. Which one should the van use?
Whichever is nearer the lane and has fewer steps, but tell us about both. Houses on the row, such as No. 1 with its three-storey and two-storey ends, sit on the slope, and knowing the levels lets the driver plan the carry before the price is fixed.
