Addingham: what to know before moving day
The village is a record of its mills. Low Mill, opened in 1787, was Yorkshire's first worsted-spinning mill; the last mill closed in 1976, and the Low Mill site became Low Mill Village, a housing scheme of restored mill buildings and cottages. On Stockinger Lane stand three-storey weavers' houses whose top floors held looms. The older buildings are grey-brown gritstone from the moor above, many of them listed, including the Crown Hotel of 1769 on Main Street.
Twentieth-century housing followed: council houses on Moor Lane after the First World War and on School Lane, Burns Hill and Green Lane after the Second, and a later estate laid along the old railway, where Old Station Way now runs. In November 2020 the Wharfe reached its highest recorded level here and flooded homes at Low Mill Village and North Street, so for a riverside address, mention anything that affects access on the day.
How the van gets to Addingham
Main Street and Bolton Road carry the B6160 through the village, and the A65, which once ran through the village, now bypasses Addingham to the south. The route data from Bradford goes by the A650 up the Aire Valley to Keighley, the A629 bypass and the A6034 over through Silsden, then the B6160 into Main Street. From Ilkley the A65 is the direct way.

No. The park boundary is within a mile of the parish, but Addingham is in the City of Bradford district, with its own parish council, and since May 2026 it has been in the Ilkley and Addingham ward.
Where is the nearest station now that Addingham's has closed?
Ilkley, about three miles away, with trains to Leeds and Bradford. Addingham's own station on the Skipton to Ilkley line lost its passenger trains in 1965, so a move out of Addingham is a road job from start to finish.
