Threshfield: what to know before moving day
Two B roads matter here. The B6265 from Skipton runs through on its way to Grassington Bridge, and the B6160 also passes through the parish, with a 19th-century guide stone at its junction with Skythornes Lane pointing to Skirethorns, Malham and Settle. Main Street is the old core: 1, 2 and 3 Main Street are a listed row, the oldest part dated 1651, and The Old Hall inn, a Georgian building named after the 14th-century hall behind it, is said to be the oldest inhabited building in Wharfedale.
Around that core, the map shows residential closes such as Piece Fields and Piece Croft. Threshfield Primary School still uses its 1674 building, and Upper Wharfedale School, the secondary school opened in 1955, is here too, along with St Margaret Clitherow's Catholic Church of 1972-73 and Wharfedale Rugby Union Football Club is based in the village. School run times on the B6265 are worth avoiding for loading if the house is on the main road.
How the van gets to Threshfield
The B6265 comes up from Skipton through Rylstone and Cracoe, passes Swinden Quarry, where it runs across the old railway line just past the buffer stops, and reaches Threshfield before crossing the Wharfe into Grassington. From Bradford, Skipton is the first leg, by the Aire Valley and the A629.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 45 to 55 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Where was the old Grassington station?
On the Threshfield side. The station on the old Yorkshire Dales Railway, open to passengers from 1902 to 1930, was shared by Grassington and Threshfield and stood on the west side of the Wharfe, not in Grassington itself. Its site is now a housing estate.
Why do old records tie Threshfield to Linton?
Threshfield was a township in the old parish of Linton until it became a civil parish in 1866. Linton is its own village next door, and Linton Falls, on the Wharfe, borders Threshfield.
