Twenty miles up the Aire Valley, then a lot further
Craven College at Aireville is further education and largely non-residential, so there is no student rental churn in Skipton the way there is in a campus town. The move that actually happens here is the one out of the family home, and because Skipton is the far end of our patch it pays to combine it. One van, one run, everything in it, rather than a parent driving the A65 twice in a day with the back seats down.
Town-centre addresses need more thought. The flats above the High Street and Sheep Street shops are reached from rear yards and narrow ginnels, with steep back staircases and no lift, and on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays the market has the High Street bays. If a room is up one of those back stairs, we book the job around the stalls or start before they are set up.
What Skipton student removals usually involves
- Market days are Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and the High Street bays are gone on all four, so centre jobs get an early start
- Flats over the High Street and Sheep Street shops are reached through rear yards and ginnels, up steep back stairs with no lift
- The canal crossings around Coach Street and the basin are narrow humpback bridges with tight approaches for a long van
- Terraced streets off Broughton Road and Water Street are parked both sides with no off-street loading at all
- Skipton is the far end of our area, twenty miles and up to fifty minutes, so it's worth doing the whole move in one booking
Where in Skipton we work
- Gargrave Road and Aireville1930s to 70s semis and detached houses with drives, where most leaving-home loads start
- Greatwood and Horse Closelarge post-war and housing-association estates on the edge of town
- High Street and Sheep Street flatsshop-over rooms up back staircases, timed around the market stalls
- Broughton Road terracesnarrow streets parked both sides, so the van works from the nearest legal stop
- Craven College, Airevillefurther education without halls, so students here live at home until they leave
- Skipton canal basinnewer apartment conversions reached over narrow humpback bridges
If your street isn't listed it's almost certainly still covered, Skipton and the surrounding BD23 postcodes are all inside our normal working area.

What it costs
A Skipton student move is priced on the load, the carry and the distance at the far end, with nothing added for the run up the Aire Valley. There's no travel surcharge for coming to Skipton from Bradford, and you get the price before we set off, not after. See how we quote for the full breakdown.
Frequently asked questions: student removals in Skipton
Is there a university in Skipton?
No. Craven College at Aireville is a further-education college and largely non-residential, and the town's secondaries are Ermysted's Grammar and Skipton Girls' High. University students from Skipton move away, commonly to Leeds, Bradford and Lancaster, so the work here is the run out and the run back.
Can you get to a flat above a High Street shop?
Yes, but tell us in advance. Those flats are reached through a rear yard or a ginnel, with a steep back staircase and no lift, and on market days the High Street bays aren't available. We'll allow for the carry and pick a time when the stalls are not in the way.
Do you charge more because Skipton is further out?
No travel surcharge. Skipton sits inside our covered area even though it's twenty miles up the valley. The price reflects the job itself, meaning how much there is, how far it's going and how long the carry is at each end, and it's fixed before we set off.
