Slack (Hebden Bridge): what to know before moving day
Slack has a long chapel history: in 1807 a group left Birchcliffe Baptist Church in Hebden Bridge over the ordination of a new minister and founded Mount Zion Baptist Church at Slack. The houses near the junction are stone. Slack Top Cottage and Little Manor, dated 1599 with a rear wing of 1681, is Grade II listed, as is the row of nine early 19th-century cottages at Knowl Top close by. High Court is the one small residential close.
Further out, the listed buildings are farms and old houses on the hillside, such as Stoneshey Gate House of 1784, Lower Slater Ing and Black Dyke Farmhouse.
