Risplith: what to know before moving day
In the 1870s Risplith, spelt Rispleth, was counted as one of Sawley's four hamlets alongside Cowbush, Hungate and North Pastures. It is still farms and houses along the main road: Home Farm, Watson's Farm and Woodlands, an early 18th-century gritstone house and barn that is Grade II listed. A cast iron milepost on the east side of the B6265, near the Black-a-Moor public house, is listed as well.
Home Farm is also the base of an ice-cream maker with a shop and restaurant where passers-by can watch it being made, which makes it the easiest landmark to give. Three buses a day each way connect Risplith with Ripon and Harrogate.
How the van gets to Risplith
The B6265 runs through Risplith at 60 mph between Ripon and Pateley Bridge. Middycar Bank joins it here from Sawley village, and Green Lane leads off to the side. The route data from Bradford goes north by Otley and the A61 to Ripley, then across by Scarah Bank and Hebden Bank to Middycar Bank and the B6265.
