Low Bradley: what to know before moving day
The centre is where Main Street, Lidget Road and Silsden Road meet. The Slaters Arms, the village store, the Methodist church, St Mary's and the village hall are all within a short walk of that junction, and Bradley Cricket Club has its ground nearby. Houses spread along College Road, Matthew Lane, Crag Lane, West Lane and newer closes such as Lidget Croft and Westview Close.
Several farmhouses in the village are listed. Old Hall, of 1678, is a large stone house with three gabled bays; College Farmhouse and Scarr House are 17th-century; and Croft Farm is rendered brick rather than stone. Before the mills, most villagers worked hand looms or combed wool at home, until spinning and weaving mills arrived in the 1860s. The present primary school, Bradleys Both Community Primary, was built in 1914.
How the van gets to Low Bradley
From the A629 Keighley Road, Ings Lane is the way in: it crosses the Leeds and Liverpool Canal on the Bradley swing bridge, passes Matthew Lane and reaches Lidget Road at the edge of the village. A swing bridge may be open for a passing boat, so allow a few minutes. The A629 itself is reached from Bradford through Keighley.
