Laneshaw Bridge: what to know before moving day
The Emmott family shaped the village. Their hall was demolished in 1967, but its 1737 gateway, Emmott Hall Cottage, made from the old stables, and Emmott House, the former coach house, remain, and the family's school and St Andrew's Church are now homes. The Emmott Arms stands in the centre, and Emmott Lane runs up past the village park to the Alma Inn.
Carriers Row is a listed late 18th-century terrace of ten stone cottages, and School Lane crosses the River Laneshaw on the listed early 19th-century Royd Bridge. OpenStreetMap shows other roads, Kingsley Road, Vernon Road, Sheridan Road, Wycoller View and Valley Mill Court, as well as the primary school. A cottage in the old row and a house on those roads are different jobs, so say which yours is.
How the van gets to Laneshaw Bridge
Keighley Road, the A6068, runs through the village between Colne and Cowling. From Bradford there are two ways: the main road through Keighley and Cowling, or the moor road over from Haworth, which on the Lancashire side is Two Laws Road and comes down past Lane Head into the village. School Lane and Emmott Lane lead off the main road.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 35 to 50 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
