Winewall: what to know before moving day
Winewall is on the slope above the valley road. Its lanes include Winewall Lane, Lane Top, Top Lane and Hill Top, with Wellhead Road, New Row and parts of Hill Top marked at 10 mph on the map. Several of the stone houses are listed: Winewall Farmhouse of 1690, a row of three houses with the farmhouse in the middle; Winewall House and Spergarth Cottage from the mid-17th century; Fold Farmhouse; and Hill Top Farmhouse and barn, now four homes. On the 10 mph lanes, tell us before booking if the van may need to stop short of the door.
Down in the valley, Winewall Bridge carries Rosley Street over Colne Water, and Trawden Brook also flows through. Ball Grove Park and The Cotton Tree pub are nearby. Until 2001 Winewall had one of the last Inghamite chapels in England. OpenStreetMap names a cycle path here The Old Tram Track; trams ran between Colne and Trawden from 1903 to 1934.
How the van gets to Winewall
The B6250 runs along the valley as Skipton Road, Cotton Tree Lane and Trawden Road, linking Colne and Trawden. The road between Cottontree and Winewall carries on to Laneshaw Bridge and Wycoller and is an alternative way to Trawden. From Bradford the van gets to Colne by Keighley or Skipton first.
