Gannow: what to know before moving day
When the M65 reached Burnley in 1980 its route beside the railway, close to the town centre, split off the districts to the north, Gannow among them, and several hundred terrace houses were demolished. The ridge that the motorway and railway were cut through is the one the canal passes under in the Gannow Tunnel. Two addresses that look close on a map can be on opposite sides of that cutting, so check the route.
Gannow Lane is the main street, partly one-way, with Smallshaw Lane, Sunderland Street, Saltburn Street, Harling Street and White Street off it, and the closes of Weavers Fold, Wilson Fold and Maden Fold Bank nearby. Life Church Lancashire meets on Sycamore Avenue, and Gannow Business Park is one of the town's business parks. The side streets are 20 mph.
How the van gets to Gannow
From Bradford the van comes by way of Colne and the M65 to junction 10, the Burnley Barracks Interchange; Gannow Lane's eastern end meets the A671 at the interchange, and it runs west towards Rosegrove Lane. Because part of Gannow Lane is one-way, tell the driver which end of the lane, or which side street, the house is nearest.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 55 to 65 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Not necessarily. Burnley Borough Council has a ward called Gannow, but postcodes.io places BB12 6JJ, in this part of Gannow, in the Rosegrove with Lowerhouse ward. It makes no difference to the move, but it can confuse council tax paperwork.
What is the Gannow Tunnel?
The tunnel that carries the Leeds and Liverpool Canal under the ridge that runs beneath Gannow and Whittlefield. Boats use it; vans do not, so the road route goes round by the M65 junction or Gannow Lane.
