Copley: what to know before moving day
Copley Lane is the main street through the village, with Copley Hall Street, Copley Mount, Copley Terrace, Kings Lea and Riverwood Drive off it and Copley Park beside it. The Volunteer Arms is the pub, and Copley Primary School is on Wakefield Road. The Caldervale railway line passes right by the park; Copley had its own station from 1856 to 1931.
Copley Cricket Club and the Old Rishworthian rugby club both play on grounds between the canal to the north and the river to the south, next to the Leeds to Manchester railway line. Did Copley ever have a station of its own?
Yes, from 1856 to 1931. The Caldervale line still runs right by Copley Park, but with no station now a move here is a road job: Wakefield Road, the A6026, and then Copley Lane over Copley Lane Bridge.
