Wilsden: what to know before moving day
Wilsden was three hamlets on an 1818 map, Wilsden Hill, Wilsden and Lingbob, and mills pulled them together: Albion Mill came first in 1810 and seven more followed that century. Albion Mill was demolished after a fire in 1990. The workers' housing is still here, and some of it is listed, including Club Row and Chapel Row, each a terrace of eight stone cottages from the early to mid 19th century. The Mechanics Institute of 1837 and the Independent Sunday School of 1890 stand on the same streets, and Bradford Council has a conservation area appraisal for the village.
Main Street has the everyday shops, including a Co-op, a post office, a butcher and a medical centre, and the village hall hosts groups from scouts to a weekly auction. St Matthew's is a 1972 building on a new site, after the church of 1826 was pulled down in 1962. At the south end, the Ling Bob pub was built in 1836 as the Brown Cow Inn and took the name of the hamlet it stood in. For a terraced cottage on Main Street, say whether the van can pull in outside or will have to stop further along.
How the van gets to Wilsden
Main Street is an unclassified road that runs north to south through the village. At the southern end it meets the B6144, the road between Bradford and Cullingworth; at the northern end it goes on through Harden to the B6429 towards Bingley. Crack Lane leaves Main Street for Norr and Coplowe Lane. The 616 and 619 buses follow the same route through to Harden and Bingley.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 15 to 30 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

At the southern end of Wilsden village, on Main Street. In 1818 it was a separate hamlet, and the Ling Bob pub still carries its name.
Is Wilsden run by Bingley or by its own parish council?
Its own. Wilsden became a civil parish again in 2004 and has a parish council, while Bradford Council handles council tax and bins. On Bradford Council the village is in the Bingley West ward.
