Siddal: what to know before moving day
On the map Siddal is a compact block of streets: Siddal Lane, Siddal Street and Oxford Lane in the north, Jubilee Road and Backhold Lane running down the south side, and Siddal Primary School to the south-east. Almost every residential street here, and several of the through lanes, is mapped with a 20 mph limit. Oxford Lane and Crossley Holme both have allotments.
Most people outside Halifax know the name from Siddal ARLFC, the amateur rugby league club, which the Halifax article counts as a leading member of the National Conference League. West of the houses the ground falls to the Hebble Brook and the Halifax Cut of the Calder and Hebble Navigation, and Calderdale Royal Hospital sits on the far side of the A629, only a short run across the valley floor.
How the van gets to Siddal
The A629 Huddersfield Road and Salterhebble Hill run along the west side of Siddal, with Backhold Lane, Jubilee Road and Exley Bank climbing up from that side. From the town-centre end, Whitegate Road and Oxford Lane come in from the north. The Salterhebble junction, where the A629 meets the A6026 and the B6112, is known for rush-hour queues, so a mid-morning start can get through it more easily.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 25 to 40 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Siddal's ward is named after Salterhebble. Does that matter for a move?
Only in avoiding a mix-up. Salterhebble is the next area to the south-west, on the A629 by the Hebble Brook, and Siddal is the suburb on the slope above it. Both sit in the same Calderdale ward, so give the street name and the full HX3 postcode.
