Rossett: what to know before moving day
The name goes back to the Domesday Book, where the district appears as Rosert, from Old English for horse wood; Pannal village itself was once known as Rossett. Today the name lives on in Rossett Green, about a mile north of Pannal village, in Rossett School and in the Rossett Local Nature Reserve. The streets are mostly residential closes and avenues: Rossett Drive, Rossett Avenue, Rossett Garth, the Castle Hill closes, Richmond Road, Throstle Nest Drive and Leadhall Way are typical names.
Two large secondaries sit here. Harrogate Grammar School, with around 1,900 pupils, has been on Arthurs Avenue since 1933, and Rossett School, opened in 1973 as Harrogate's newest secondary, has about 1,400. Rossett Acre Primary School is close by too. With that many pupils, a move on a school day is easier with loading timed outside the school run. For a semi or detached house with a drive, say whether the van can use the drive or needs to stay on the road.
How the van gets to Rossett
From Bradford the A658 runs past Leeds Bradford Airport and Huby to the south side of Harrogate, where it meets the A61 near Pannal. The main roads through the suburb are Rossett Green Lane, Yew Tree Lane, Leadhall Lane, Green Lane and Pannal Ash Road.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 40 to 50 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
