Ripponden Wood: what to know before moving day
The streets are short and close together: Kenworthy Lane, Coronation Terrace, Highfield Terrace and Jubilee Terrace, with Ryburn Lane, Hillside Avenue and Lower and Higher Park Royd Drive nearby. Rose Cottage, dated 1719, is a Grade II listed stone house with paired doorways, and a small listed milestone of the late 18th century stands on the east side of Halifax Road opposite Rycliffe.
Ripponden Wood Playing Fields are home to Ryburn United, the local community football club. The old trackbed of the Rishworth branch, the railway that ran up the valley from Sowerby Bridge, passes close by, and Kebroyd, a hamlet with listed 17th-century buildings and the former Kebroyd Silk Mills, is the next place along the valley.
How the van gets to Ripponden Wood
Everything here comes off the A58 Halifax Road, the main road from Sowerby Bridge through the valley into Ripponden, and Kenworthy Lane joins it directly. In Ripponden centre the B6113 branches off for Barkisland and Greetland, and the A672 for Rishworth.
