Milnsbridge: what to know before moving day
Milnsbridge grew around woollen and worsted mills on the riverside, and many streets of 19th-century terraced houses built for mill workers remain. Some mills became housing: part of Union Mills, a Grade II listed building, was converted into the 38 flats of Crowther Village in 1997. Scar Lane, Market Street and Morley Lane (the B6111) are the main streets, with Crow Lane, Savile Street and Royd Street leading off.
Aldi on Scar Lane, the post office, Crow Lane Primary School and the Grade II listed Baptist Chapel, founded in 1843, are all in the centre. The Scar Lane drill hall dates from 1911, and the railway crosses the valley on the Milne Viaduct close by.
How the van gets to Milnsbridge
The A62 Manchester Road passes along the south side of the valley. The B6111 runs from it through Milnsbridge as Whiteley Street, Yates Lane, Morley Lane, Market Street and Scar Lane. From Bradford, the M62 brings the van to Huddersfield and the A62 takes it west.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 30 to 40 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
