Crosland Moor: what to know before moving day
Blackmoorfoot Road is the main thoroughfare, and Dryclough Road meets it by the Dryclough Road post office. Moor End Academy, the secondary school, and Oak C of E Primary are both on Dryclough Road, and at its far end is Beaumont Park, Huddersfield's first public park, opened in 1883. The Walpole and Balmoral Avenue estates are part of Crosland Moor, as are Tom Lane, Gramfield Road, Thornleigh Road and Cartwright Gardens.
William Horsfall Street recalls the mill owner shot by Luddites on Blackmoorfoot Road in April 1812. Also beside Blackmoorfoot Road stood St Luke's Hospital, a former workhouse that closed in December 2010; its buildings were demolished and in 2015 councillors approved up to 200 homes, a shop and a small neighbourhood centre there.
How the van gets to Crosland Moor
The van comes up Blackmoorfoot Road from its junction with the A62 Manchester Road, the road through the Colne Valley between Huddersfield and Manchester. Dryclough Road runs off it to the park end. From Bradford the van reaches Huddersfield on the M62 and leaves the ring road westbound on the A62.
