Lowerhouses: what to know before moving day
Housing here is mostly social housing estates, with private homes mixed in. Lowerhouses Lane and Hey Lane meet by Lowerhouses CofE Primary School, and Longley Road, Hall Cross Road, Hall Cross Grove, Oaken Bank Crescent and Broadgate make up the estate streets. The district has a corner shop, a takeaway and the Longley and Lowerhouses Community Church, and bus stops on Longley Road include one named for the Mason Arms.
Green space is close by. Longley Woods Nature Reserve and Penny Spring Wood are within a few hundred metres, Hey Lane and Longley Road both have allotments, and Longley Park golf course and Somerset Park are a short way off. Dog Kennel Bank and Wood Lane are the other roads out of the area.
How the van gets to Lowerhouses
Longley Road and Hall Cross Road are the bus routes through the estate, joined by Lowerhouses Lane. Somerset Road meets Longley Road, and Fanny Moor Lane links Wood Lane with Longley Lane. From Bradford the van comes to Huddersfield by the M62 and the A629, which runs with the ring road.
