Lees: what to know before moving day
Lees has the village primary school and the Methodist church. Lees Primary School takes children from 3 to 11, and Lees Methodist Church, built in 1873 as a Sunday school, is a listed millstone grit building with a bellcote over its pedimented centre. The Bronte Hotel is the pub in this part of the village, and a youth hostel sits just off Longlands Drive. Among the older houses, 6 and 8 Vale Lane Top are a listed late 18th-century pair, and 15 to 19 Haworth Road are listed early 19th-century cottages.
Beyond these, Lees has its own set of residential streets. Lees Bank Road, Lees Bank Hill, Lees Bank Drive and Lees Bank Avenue form one group; Fellwood Avenue, Fellwood Close and Laburnum Grove another; and Vale Mill Lane has a one-way section on the map. Janet Street, Leaf Street and Thorn Street are shorter streets close by. If you are on a one-way stretch, say so, as it decides which way the van pulls up.
How the van gets to Lees
From Bradford the van takes the B6144 through Cullingworth and joins the A629 Halifax Road at Cross Roads, then turns off on to the A6033 Haworth Road into Lees. Lees Lane, part of the B6142, carries on from Lees to Mill Hey and Haworth station, so Lees also works as the way in from the Haworth side.
