Brow Top: what to know before moving day
The oldest listed house is Brow Top Farmhouse, a listed millstone grit farmhouse dated 1699, later extended at both ends to five bays, with a roundel on the front carrying the date and a carved cherub. Other homes are on residential streets off the main road: Gillstone Drive, Fairway Crescent, Folly View Road, New Holme Road and Bilberry Rise. Haworth Brow is mapped as a separate hamlet nearby, and so is Naylor Hill Quarry.
Black Moor Road leaves Brow Top as a tertiary road, and Brow Road links the B6144 with Bridgehouse Lane in the village; Haworth's Baptists first met in a barn at the bottom of Brow Road in 1785. Because Brow Top Road carries the B6144 traffic into Haworth, a house fronting it is a different job from one tucked into a close, so say which you have and whether there is a drive.
How the van gets to Brow Top
Brow Top is the first part of Haworth reached on the B6144 from Bradford: the road runs out through Cullingworth as Cullingworth Road and Haworth Road, then becomes Brow Top Road for the final stretch. The A6033 Hebden Road passes close by, the road that links Cross Roads with Oxenhope.
