Ledston: what to know before moving day
Ledston runs along Main Street, with Green Lane, Hall Lane, Manor Park, Dovecote Drive and White Horse Fold leading off it and Ledston Mill Lane joining it to Back Newton Lane. The White Horse is a 15th-century inn. The Lady Elizabeth Hastings Church of England Primary School carries the name of the woman who lived at the hall, and moved here from Ledsham.
Ledston Hall began as a grange and chapel built by the monks of Pontefract Priory. It is Grade I listed, several of its outbuildings and garden features are listed too, the Wheler Trust has run it since 1992, and the Ledston Equine Centre uses its stables. If your home is one of the older village houses, measure the doors and stairs and send photos before booking a large wardrobe or sofa.
How the van gets to Ledston
The A656 passes the west side of the village. It meets the A642 at junction 47 of the M1 near Garforth, so the van comes off the motorway there and follows the A656 south before turning in on the village lanes to Main Street.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 40 to 55 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
