Ledston Luck: what to know before moving day
There are few homes and they sit close to the main road: Ledston Luck Villas, Church View and the short road called Ledston Luck, with bus stops on Ridge Road by the villas. Beside them is the Ledston Luck Enterprise Park with the Pit Stop Cafe, and beyond are Sheepcote Wood, Warrenhouse Plantation and farm tracks such as Sandgate Lane and Spartal Lane.
Ledston Luck Colliery closed in 1986 and its site is now a local nature reserve. Until the early 1980s a narrow-gauge line, 2 feet 6 inches wide, carried its coal to the Peckfield pit at Micklefield, where the coal was washed and sent on by the main railway.
How the van gets to Ledston Luck
Ridge Road is the A656, the road that meets the A642 at junction 47 of the M1 near Garforth. The van comes off the motorway there and heads south along the A656 to the hamlet; further south the same road passes to the west of Ledston village.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 35 to 50 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
