Ledsham: what to know before moving day
The village gathers around the junction of Claypit Lane, New Road and Holyrood Lane, with The Chequers on Claypit Lane and All Saints a short walk away. All Saints dates from the late seventh century and is the oldest building standing in West Yorkshire; inside are memorials to Lady Elizabeth Hastings and her family. Park Lane, Newfield Lane, Manor Garth and Sir John Lewis Cottages are the other addresses.
Ledsham was once the mother parish of Fairburn and Ledston, which became separate civil parishes in 1866. Ledsham Beck and the Hastings, Dale and Hundred Acre plantations lie around the houses, and the village cricket team plays in the York league.
How the van gets to Ledsham
Ledsham lies just west of the A1(M). East of the village is Selby Fork, where the A63 dual carriageway, built on the line of the old A1 and following the boundary between Leeds and North Yorkshire, meets the A1246. In the early 1960s the M62 was planned to end here. Inside the village, Claypit Lane, New Road and Holyrood Lane are the lanes the van uses.

Is Ledsham in North Yorkshire?
No. Ledsham has been part of the City of Leeds since 1974 and keeps its own civil parish. The North Yorkshire boundary is close, though: the A63 dual carriageway to the east follows it, with South Milford on the other side.
