Marketplace & eBay Collection in Castleford

Castleford is the far end of our regular patch, 22 miles out on the M62, and that changes how we plan a collection. One trip, one van, and we would much rather know the item genuinely fits before anybody sets off. Send the listing, the seller's postcode and rough measurements and we will price it.

Glasshoughton cul-de-sacs and a 22-mile run

The busiest churn in town is people moving off the older Airedale, Cutsyke and Lock Lane terraces onto the new-build at Glasshoughton, which puts a steady stream of decent second-hand furniture into local listings. The catch is that those newer estates are laid out as narrow cul-de-sacs with small turning heads and cars down both sides, and they are the hardest part of Castleford to reverse a three-and-a-half-metre load into.

In the middle of town the constraint is different. Carlton Street is pedestrianised along the full length of a market that trades six days a week, so there is no vehicle access to those frontages during trading hours, and the shopping-centre car park has a height barrier we do not gamble on with a high-roof van. Approaches also funnel over a small number of river bridges where the Calder joins the Aire, and they jam easily.

What Castleford marketplace & ebay collection usually involves

  • 22 miles from Bradford: M606 onto the M62 eastbound, off at junction 32 and in on the A656 for the town and Glasshoughton, or junction 31 for Whitwood and the Aire-side estates
  • Because it is a longer run, measurements and photos before we travel matter more here than anywhere else on our patch
  • Weekend traffic for Junction 32 and Xscape clogs the A656 in from the motorway, so Saturday collections through Glasshoughton take an early or a late slot
  • Terraced streets at Lock Lane, Half Acres and Hightown are on-street only and full, so we park as near as we can get and carry the rest
  • The large free surface parking at Xscape and Junction 32 is useful for waiting between two drops on the same run
  • Send the agreed cash with us if you prefer, and we hand it to the seller on collection once the item has been checked against the listing

Where in Castleford we work

  • Glasshoughtonnew-build estates on the old colliery and coking-plant land, narrow cul-de-sacs and tight turning heads
  • Airedale and Cutsykebig post-war estates, where a lot of the household second-hand trade starts
  • Lock Lane and Half Acresdense Victorian and Edwardian terraces with on-street parking only
  • Carlton Streetpedestrianised for a six-day market, so no vehicle access to those frontages while it trades
  • Junction 32 and Xscapelarge free surface parking, a practical staging point between drops
  • Whitwood Enterprise Parkjust off junction 31, for the occasional business or office-furniture collection

If your street isn't listed it's almost certainly still covered, Castleford and the surrounding WF10 postcodes are all inside our normal working area.

Frequently asked questions: marketplace & ebay collection in Castleford

Do you charge extra for coming 22 miles to Castleford?

There is no travel surcharge. The price is agreed as a fixed figure before the job starts and it reflects the whole run, both addresses and how long the item takes to load, rather than adding a penalty for distance from Bradford.

Can you get into a Glasshoughton cul-de-sac?

Usually, but tell us the street first. The newer estates have small turning heads and cars parked on both sides, so we sometimes stop short and carry in rather than reversing a loaded long wheelbase van round a tight bend. Knowing beforehand keeps the slot realistic.

What happens if the item is not as described when you get there?

We check it against the listing photos before loading. If there is damage, a missing part or it is clearly a different size, we ring you from the seller's door and you decide. Nothing goes in the van, and no cash you sent with us gets handed over, until you say so.
