Hookstone: what to know before moving day
The showground is the reason Hookstone is known. The Yorkshire Agricultural Society bought its site at Hookstone Oval in 1950, and the Great Yorkshire Show has been held there every year since 1951. The show now runs for four days from the second Tuesday of July, and the Yorkshire Event Centre sits on the same ground. If your moving day falls in show week, say so when you book so the timing can allow for it.
The homes are on the residential streets either side of Hookstone Drive: St Leonard's Road, St Helen's Road, Wayside Avenue, Windsor Road, Innisfree Close and Hookstone Wood Road, with Hookstone Close and Hookstone Grange Way off Hookstone Chase. The Harrogate Squash and Fitness Centre is also on Hookstone Drive. OpenStreetMap records a 7.5-tonne weight limit on Woodlands Drive and Greenfields Road, the streets that link Hookstone Chase with Woodlands, so give the exact street and house number.
How the van gets to Hookstone
The A658 from Bradford forms the bypass round the south and east of Harrogate, and traffic heading for York is sent from the A661 Wetherby Road onto that bypass, so the two roads meet. From there the van comes in along Wetherby Road, and both Hookstone Drive and Hookstone Chase leave it on the way towards the Empress roundabout, where the A661 ends.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 40 to 55 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Is Hookstone Drive the same road as Hookstone Road?
No. Hookstone Drive and Hookstone Chase are the roads off Wetherby Road around the showground. Hookstone Road is a different road, the only way into Hornbeam Park and Harrogate College. Check which one your address is on before the day.
Why do Hookstone postcodes sit in two different wards?
Because the ward boundary runs through the area. The postcode lookup puts HG2 7SE in the Fairfax & Starbeck ward, while neighbouring postcodes such as HG2 8TR fall in Stray, Woodlands & Hookstone. Both are within Harrogate and North Yorkshire Council.
