Exley Head: what to know before moving day
OpenStreetMap tags most homes here as two-storey semi-detached houses, with bungalows mixed in: on Wheat Head Drive about half the houses are single-storey, and Westburn Avenue, Westburn Crescent and Prospect Mount each have some. In a bungalow the whole load comes out at ground level, so there are no stairs to plan for. Beckfoot Nessfield Primary School and Nursery and the Exley Head Methodist Church are both near Wheathead Lane, and Beckfoot Oakbank secondary school is close by.
The older Exley Head survives in a few listed buildings: High Fold Farmhouse from the mid 17th century, Rose Cottage, a roadside cross base thought to be 17th century, and 67 to 75 Exley Road, a mid to late 17th-century group. The Three Horses pub and a Co-op are a few hundred metres away.
