Claremount: what to know before moving day
St Thomas the Apostle church stands at the heart of the mapped area, with St Joseph's Catholic primary academy just to the south-west. The residential streets split into distinct groups: the Belgrave streets to the east (Belgrave Park, Avenue, Crescent, Drive, Gardens, Grove and Mount), and the older Claremount Road, Claremount Terrace, Range Bank, Range Street and Lower Range towards the west. Most are mapped at 20 mph. Horley Green Road runs off to the east, and Jerwood Hill Road, mapped as a track, heads north.
The town centre is close. North Bridge Leisure Centre, the Sainsbury's superstore, a Wickes and Halifax bus station all lie within about 600 metres to the south-west. The Wikipedia list of listed buildings in Northowram, drawn from the National Heritage List, takes in Claremount along with Shibden and Stump Cross, although for council purposes it now sits in the Halifax Town ward.
How the van gets to Claremount
The A58 runs along the southern edge as New Bank, a 40 mph section, and then Godley Lane towards Stump Cross and Hipperholme. Claremount Road and Range Lane are the ways up into the streets from the North Bridge side, and Beacon Hill Road leaves to the south-east for Bank Top and Southowram. Bradford Old Road runs out to the north-west towards Boothtown.

Can the van stop on the A58 below Claremount?
It is better not to. New Bank and Godley Lane carry the A58, the main road from Halifax towards Hipperholme and Leeds, so the van turns off into Claremount Road or Range Lane instead. Tell us which side street is nearest your door.
