Beamsley: what to know before moving day
The village lies immediately south of the A59, and its houses are few and spread out: Beamsley Hall, Hardy Grange Farm, Hey Farm, Beamsley Mill and cottages such as Wharfe View, beside Kex Beck. Several are listed. Beamsley Mill is a former watermill with an attached house and an overshot iron wheel, and Wharfe View is a pair of 17th-century stone cottages with mullioned windows. For an older cottage, measure the door and the stairs before moving large furniture.
Across the A59 is Beamsley Hospital, almshouses of 1593 with seven rooms round a central chapel, now let by the Landmark Trust as holiday accommodation. East of the village, Beamsley Beacon rises to 390.7 metres, with a memorial to the Royal Canadian Air Force airmen who died when their Lancaster bomber crashed there in 1945. The quiet roads around Beamsley draw cyclists, so allow for bikes on the lanes.
How the van gets to Beamsley
Beamsley Lane leaves the A59 and runs to Beamsley Bridge, where it meets Lowfield Lane; Lanshaw Bank runs on from Lowfield Lane. Just west is the Bolton Bridge roundabout, where the A59 meets the B6160, Bolton Road. From Bradford the van joins the A59 at Skipton, where it shares the bypass with the A65, and follows it east to the Beamsley Lane turn.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 35 to 50 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Beamsley: questions before you book
Beamsley is so close to Addingham. Is it really inside the Dales National Park?
Yes, just within its boundary, even though the parish is bordered by West Yorkshire to the south. The council is North Yorkshire Council, which took over from Craven District in 2023.
Is Beamsley Hospital a hospital?
No. It is a group of almshouses from 1593, now holiday lets, on the far side of the A59 from the village. There is no hospital there, so do not use it as a landmark for medical services.
