West Lane: what to know before moving day
Two chapels stand on the lane. West Lane Baptist Chapel dates from 1752, was extended in 1775 and rebuilt in 1844, a two-storey millstone grit building with a pedimented front, and the caretaker's house of the West Lane Methodist Church is also listed. Number 52 is dated 1757, 70 and 72 were one late 18th-century house split into two cottages, and 21 to 33 West Lane with 4 to 10 Shirley Street form an early 19th-century listed group.
Further out the housing changes. Heathcliff, Redman Garth and Redman Close are newer residential streets off the lane, Cemetery Road leads to Haworth Cemetery, and the Old Sun Inn stands on the outer stretch, with Haworth Moor beyond. OpenStreetMap records one short length of West Lane in setts, and nearby Church Street is setted too. On the old terraces a narrow front door and a tight turn at the stairs decide how a wardrobe or a corner sofa comes out, so measure both.
How the van gets to West Lane
From Bradford the B6144 comes through Cullingworth and down Brow Top Road into Haworth. From there the B6142 follows Bridgehouse Lane, Rawdon Road and North Street through the village, and West Lane carries on west from North Street. Beyond the houses it becomes Sun Lane, the road on to Stanbury.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 25 to 40 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Is a West Lane address in the old village or on the edge?
It can be either. The eastern end is among Haworth's listed 18th-century buildings near the Parsonage, while newer closes such as Redman Garth and Heathcliff sit further out towards the Old Sun Inn. Give the house number, because it tells the driver which end to aim for.
Did the 2023 parish change affect West Lane?
Only in name. West Lane postcodes such as BD22 8EN stayed in the Haworth parish, which became Haworth and Stanbury when Cross Roads left to form its own parish in April 2023. Bins and council tax are still Bradford Council, through the Worth Valley ward.
