Town End (Holmfirth): what to know before moving day
The listed buildings here are ordinary homes rather than landmarks, which says a lot about the housing. Newer streets fill the ground around them: Leyfield Bank, Town End Avenue, Town End Crescent, Bank Lane and Bill Lane. Pell Croft, near Pell Lane, is a late 18th-century farm terrace with the barn still at one end. The Quaker Friends Meeting House of 1783, with its sundial of 1801, is about 250 yards away towards the centre of Wooldale.
How the van gets to Town End (Holmfirth)
The A635 New Mill Road runs a couple of hundred yards from Town End, between Holmfirth and New Mill, and Bank Lane and Robert Lane both leave it for the streets above. From Bradford the van reaches the valley through Huddersfield, then comes up the A616 through Thongsbridge or the A6024 through Holmfirth to join the A635.
