Swarcliffe (Leeds): what to know before moving day
The estate is boxed in by York Road, the A64, on the north, Barwick Road on the south, the Cock Beck and Scholes on the east and the old Outer Ring Road on the west, and the smaller Stanks estate counts as part of it. The first homes were two- and three-bedroom semis and three-storey blocks of flats, mostly brick, though some houses went up in prefabricated cinder and concrete panels. A Leeds City Council index quoted by Wikipedia puts the mix at 38 per cent terraced, 37 per cent semi-detached and 22 per cent purpose-built flats.
The three tower blocks are gone: Swarcliffe Towers and Manston Towers were demolished in 1998 and Elmet Towers in 2007. Woodview Court, a home for older people, stands where the first two were. Two small woods sit among the houses, Great Swarcliffe Wood beside Swarcliffe Avenue and Swarcliffe Drive, and Little Swarcliffe Wood off Swarcliffe Bank. How the van gets to Swarcliffe (Leeds)
York Road, the A64, is the main road on the north side. The A64 overlaps the old ring road, now the B6902, at a roundabout by St Theresa's Catholic Primary School, and OpenStreetMap names that western edge Ring Road Seacroft and Ring Road Cross Gates. Stanks Lane North and Stanks Lane South cross the estate, with Swarcliffe Drive, Swarcliffe Avenue and Stanks Drive leading off them.

It is a separate estate, but Seacroft is often used as a catch-all name for Seacroft, Whinmoor and Swarcliffe because the three run into each other. Swarcliffe postcodes are split between LS14 and LS15, so the full postcode is the safest thing to give.
