Seacroft: what to know before moving day
Leeds City Council bought 1,000 acres here in 1934 and planned Seacroft as a satellite town within the city boundary. The older red-brick semis are around Beechwood, in the north of the estate; prefabricated houses and high-rise flats followed in the 1960s. The tower blocks cluster near the shopping centre, at the bottom of South Parkway and Beechwood Avenue, around Ramshead and at Bogart Hill. North Parkway, built as a dual carriageway, and South Parkway are the two main roads through the estate. If you are moving from one of the high-rise flats, say which floor, and book the lift if the block asks for that.
The village survives around The Green, one of the oldest village greens in the country, with the Cricketers Arms on its north side and St James' Church, built in 1845, on the south. Seacroft Grange, built in 1627 and Grade II listed, is now part of a care village. Seacroft Green Shopping Centre, with a large two-level Tesco, opened in 2000 on the site of the 1960s Civic Centre and holds the bus station for north-east Leeds. The nearest railway station is at Cross Gates.
How the van gets to Seacroft
The A64 York Road passes Seacroft Hospital and meets the old ring road at a roundabout at Seacroft, by the Britannia Hotel. That old ring road now carries the number B6902 through the estate, shown on the map as Ring Road Seacroft, since the A6120 East Leeds Orbital Route opened in 2022. The A58 Easterly Road rejoins its original route at Boggart Hill. From Bradford, the Outer Ring Road round the north of Leeds keeps the van out of the city centre.

It depends on the street. The postcode lookup for LS14 1PS gives Cross Gates & Whinmoor, while Wikipedia puts most of Seacroft in the Killingbeck & Seacroft ward. Both are Leeds City Council wards, so bins and council tax go through Leeds either way.
