Sheepridge: what to know before moving day
Its oldest landmark is Christ Church, Woodhouse, built in 1823 to 1824 to a design by Thomas Taylor, with its vicarage beside it and, in the churchyard, a Gothic monument to Richard Oastler, the factory reformer who was once steward of the Fixby estate. A listed pair of houses at 1 and 3 Woodhouse Hill is dated 1787. Our Lady of Lourdes church and primary academy, Christ Church CE Academy, the Chestnut Centre and North Huddersfield Trust School are the other buildings near the homes.
The streets include Sheepridge Road, Riddings Road, Chestnut Street, Ruskin Grove, Browning Road and Long Hill Road, with Woodhouse Grove and Woodhouse Avenue off Woodhouse Hill. On the eastern edge are the Huddersfield Broad Canal and the railway line, with the Canalside sports ground by them. How the van gets to Sheepridge
Two roads lead in. From the A62 Leeds Road, Deighton Road runs west past Riddings into Sheepridge; from the A641 Bradford Road, Ashbrow Road leads to Woodhouse Hill and Sheepridge Road. A van arriving down the A641 from the Bradford direction can use the Ashbrow Road turn.

Why do some addresses here say Woodhouse?
The church is Christ Church, Woodhouse, and Woodhouse Hill is the neighbourhood on the Fartown side of Sheepridge, so addresses may use either name. Give the street and the HD2 postcode and the van will find the same door whichever name is on the paperwork.
