Pye Nest: what to know before moving day
Wainhouse Tower, 275 feet tall and Grade II* listed, went up between 1871 and 1875 as a chimney for the Washer Lane dye works, and its viewing platforms ended Edwards's claim that no one could see into his Pye Nest estate. Today Pye Nest Road, Pye Nest Drive, Pye Nest Rise, Edwards Road and Washer Lane run through the area. In 1907 a Halifax Corporation tram ran away backwards down Pye Nest Road and derailed, killing six people.
