Primet Bridge: what to know before moving day
The name is on the road itself. On the map the A56 runs in from Nelson as Burnley Road, becomes Primet Bridge over the river, then climbs as Primet Hill towards Albert Road. Beside it stands Primet Foundry, a listed sandstone building of about 1850 that was a loom factory, a foundry and a cotton mill, extended until 1947 and since converted for other uses.
South of the river the streets are mostly 20 mph closes and drives: South Valley Drive, Castercliff Bank, Primet Heights, Grindlestone Hirst, Pendlemist View and Beacon Close, with South Valley Fields and a path up to Tum Hill behind them. How the van gets to Primet Bridge
Coming from Nelson, the van simply follows the A56 Burnley Road east to the bridge. From Bradford it arrives on the far side of Colne, on the A6068 from Keighley or the A56 from Skipton, and crosses the town on Albert Road and down Primet Hill. Bridge Street and Knotts Lane branch off near the river for the streets to the north.
