Osmondthorpe: what to know before moving day
Osmondthorpe Hall stood on the west side of Osmondthorpe Lane until a fire destroyed it in 1924. About 50 acres of its grounds became East End Park and the rest went for housing. Osmondthorpe was a civil parish of its own from 1894 until 1925, when it was merged into Leeds; in 1921 it had 773 people.
The biggest landmark is the Neville Hill train depot, on the north side of the Leeds to Selby line about two miles east of Leeds station. It opened in 1899 and was rebuilt with new sheds in 1969. Osmondthorpe also had its own station, opened in 1930 for a new housing estate and closed in 1960. On the map the residential streets include the Neville, Rookwood, Skelton and Richardson roads, with Osmondthorpe Recreation Ground among them and the Wykebeck streets on the Halton Moor side.
How the van gets to Osmondthorpe
Osmondthorpe Lane and Halton Moor Road are the two through roads, and the A64 York Road passes to the north. From Bradford, the A647 brings the van into Leeds and the Inner Ring Road links it to York Road heading east; the other way in is the M621, with the A61 up the east side of the city centre to York Road.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 30 to 40 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

It is often treated that way: Osmondthorpe is commonly counted in the Halton Moor district, and the two areas run together around the Wykebeck streets. For the council, though, Osmondthorpe is in the Burmantofts & Richmond Hill ward and Halton Moor is in Temple Newsam.
Is there still an Osmondthorpe station?
No. It served the line to Selby from 1930 and closed in 1960. The railway land that remains is the Neville Hill depot, so plan the move by road.
