Moving in Lovell Park: what to know first
Most homes in Lovell Park are flats. The three 17-storey towers, Lovell Park Towers, Heights and Grange, and the eight-storey Lovell House on Skinner Lane all depend on their lifts, so tell us the block and floor, measure the lift door against your largest piece, and ask the landlord whether moves need booking. The lower homes on Lovell Park Close, Mews, View, Gate and Hill are maisonettes and low-rise blocks where the van can get closer.
Lovell Park Road is the quiet 20 mph street through the estate, and the van waits there or in the estate roads rather than on the main roads around it. Clay Pit Lane, the A58, is a busy 30 and 40 mph road on the north side, the Inner Ring Road runs along the south, and Skinner Lane is one-way uphill. Say which entrance of the block you use, and on an arena night pick an earlier start.
Lovell Park: the local picture
The towers are Lovell Park Towers, Lovell Park Heights and Lovell Park Grange, each 17 storeys high, and Lovell House on Skinner Lane is an eight-storey block of 80 flats. Lower-rise homes are on Lovell Park Close, Lovell Park Mews, Lovell Park View, Lovell Park Gate and Lovell Park Hill. The park itself stands on the site of a cattle market that dates back to before 1860, and the Lovell Park Hub is the community centre.
The large office beside the park was built in the 1990s for the Leeds Permanent Building Society, which moved here from what is now The Light, and it now belongs to Lloyds Banking Group. The Merrion Centre is about five minutes' walk for shops, Leeds College of Building is on North Street, and there is an NCP car park on Lovell Park Hill. For a tower flat, say which block and floor, and whether the lift takes your largest piece.
How the van gets to Lovell Park
The likely route takes the A647 into Leeds and the Inner Ring Road, leaves it for West Street and crosses the centre by Park Lane, Westgate, Great George Street and Wade Lane to Lovell Park Road, roughly 25 to 35 minutes from Bradford. Clay Pit Lane, the A58, runs along the northern side towards the Sheepscar Interchange.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 25 to 35 minutes. That is an estimate, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Frequently asked questions: man with a van in Lovell Park
Does an event at the First Direct Bank Arena matter for a Lovell Park move?
It can. The arena is only a couple of hundred metres south of the estate, and Clay Pit Lane and the Inner Ring Road serve both, so check the arena's listings when you choose a date and go for an earlier slot if there is an evening show.
Is Lovell House one of the Lovell Park tower blocks?
No, it is a separate, lower block. Lovell House is the eight-storey block of 80 flats on Skinner Lane, while the three 17-storey towers are Lovell Park Towers, Lovell Park Heights and Lovell Park Grange. Give the block name, as the entrances are on different streets.
Is the Opal Tower part of the Lovell Park estate?
It stands in Lovell Park, but it is a newer 25-storey tower, unlike the 1960s council blocks that kept their brick cladding. For any of them, say which tower and floor, and whether the lift takes your largest piece.
