Lee Lane: what to know before moving day
The lane runs for close to two kilometres, past farms and fields. Two of the farmhouses along it are listed and date from the 1600s. Stock-a-close Farmhouse is a 17th-century stone house with mullioned windows, a catslide roof over one bay and a stone barn of about the same age, and March Cote Farmhouse is a late 17th-century two-bay house whose old doorway has been blocked and given an arched window. The land here rises to about 560 feet at March Cote Farm.
Other names on the map along the way are Stocka House Farm, the Farview Fishing Lakes and the Cottingley Wood Estate woodland, and Norr Hill's trig point is to the west. Marchcote Lane, which leaves Lee Lane, is a bridleway rather than a road, so it is not a way in for a van. With a farmhouse, a note of the gate width and the yard surface helps plan where the van waits.
How the van gets to Lee Lane
Lee Lane leaves the B6146 Cottingley Moor Road at its eastern end, next to North Bank Road, crossing a short bridge. It then runs west-north-west as a tarmac lane without lane markings to a junction with Cross Lane and Coplowe Lane on the Wilsden side, where it continues for a short way as an unclassified road to the Millennium Way footpath.
