Lawkholme: what to know before moving day
Lawkholme Lane runs through the middle. Off it and Victoria Avenue are rows of terraces, several named after birds: Plover Street, Wren Street, Linnet Street, Thrush Street and Grouse Street, alongside Rufus Street, Rupert Street, May Street and June Street. Cougar Park, home of the Keighley Cougars, was known as Lawkholme Lane from 1899 until 1995; the town's rugby club first played on a field in Lawkholme Lane in 1876, and one end is still called the Hard Ings Road End. Eastwood House, a stone house of 1819 with a Doric portico, is Grade II listed and was where Keighley's first museum opened, before it moved to Cliffe Castle. How the van gets to Lawkholme
Hard Ings Road carries the A650 and A629 past the east side of Lawkholme and meets Lawkholme Lane, so the van comes off the Aire Valley road straight into the district. From the town centre, Lawkholme Lane also joins Cavendish Street, the A6035, and Alice Street links it with North Street. Royd Ings Avenue, beside the ground, is reached by Royd Way off Hard Ings Road.
